       通常激光器發出的激光束的空間強度分布呈高斯分布,即高斯光束,在高功率固體激光器和放大器的應用中,高斯光束的強度過于集中在中心部分,易導致激光晶體和光學元件的損傷。通過平頂光束整形器可以將高斯光束整形為光強均勻分布的平頂光束。平頂光束把強度分散在整個光斑尺寸中,可以大大提高高功率激光的損傷閾值。此外,平頂光束整形器還廣泛應用于激光的醫學臨床應用、激光打孔、刻槽、激光材料加工、光學信息處理、存儲和記錄等對激光光束均勻性有較高要求的領域中。
